    2. Date of the contribution

    3. Amount of contribution: For cash donations, the exact amount given

    4. Description of donation: For non-cash donations, a detailed description of the items donated

    5. Written acknowledgment: For donations of $250 or more, you need a contemporaneous written acknowledgment from the organization that includes:

      • The amount of cash contribution or description of non-cash donation

      • Whether the organization provided any goods or services in exchange for the donation

      • A description and good faith estimate of the value of any goods or services provided in return

    6. For non-cash donations valued at over $500, you'll need additional documentation and may need to file Form 8283
